A mixture which sometimes reminds of Deep Purple and Rainbow, like with the songs "Nights to remember" and "End of the line".

Ride On My Way (The Hymn)

by Anne-K. Fricke (14.04.2008) As soon as 1980, Michael Schenker and Gary Barden wrote Hardrock history with songs, like "Armed and ready". Later followed classics, like "Attack of the mad axeman" and "Are you ready to rock" to name but a few. More than two decades later, the two revive the glorious times and with "In the midst of the beauty" release a new album. Of course, you wouldn’t expect no innovations here but that is okay for the 12 compositions can absolutely convince. Michael Schenker presents some catchy riffs ("Come Closer", "Competition", "Wings of emotion") and delivers good songs. And Barden’s voice is really excellent, he is a great singer. Furthermore, the two are supported by a "who is who" in Hard Rock. Don Airey (keys), Neil Murray (bass) and Simon Phillips (drums) build the basic foundation on which the Mad Axeman lets it rock. "Summerdays" reminds me a bit of Mötley Crüe, "Night to remember" pays tribute to Deep Purple. That’s no problem, either, because it is just a lot of fun to listen to!
