by Markus Wosgien (21.11.2007) The Finnish quartet, Dark The Suns, started two years ago as a solo project of singer and guitarist, Mikko Ojala and could stir some media attention with the first demo. With his move to JyvΓ€skylΓ€, the project became a band and now presents the debut album, "In darkness comes beauty", produced in the Watercastle Studio (Sunride, Excalion) and mastered in the famous Finnvox Studio (Nightwish, Amorphis). Musically, Dark The Suns shift between Melodic Metal and powerful Gothic-sounds and often remind me of their country fellows of Eternal Tears Of Sorrow as well as the first albums of the German Gothic Metal-institution, Crematory. In the centre of the songs, you always have great, filigree guitar melodies, supported by spherical keyboard sounds and distinctive, gloomy vocals by the head of the band, Mikko. Of course, the Finns haven't reinvented the wheel, here, but the ten songs ignite and perfectly get their hooks in your ear after some listenings.
