by Andreas Reissnauer (18.12.2006) It's an old cliché, of course, that Japanese copy everything from the West. Still, there are reasons for this cliché. Also in Heavy Metal you find the recycling of other people's ideas. Blood Stain Child is a perfect example because the shadows of In Flames lie clearly on this international debut (the band released two earlier albums in Japan). Especially the last records of the Gothenburg icons seem to have been very formative for the quintet. The riffage, the use of clear vocals, respectively whispering, and the very Swedish melodies are definitely no Japanese invention. In times, also Children Of Bodom and even Arch Enemy (in the guitar section) shine through. True originality only comes from the great, filigree solos and the almost permanent use of keyboards. They sound very interesting, sometimes futuristic, sometimes spherical, then again like taken from a Nintendo-game. Bizarre but good!
