Excellent Service

Little diversified live-versions of the songs of the last two mega sellers of the Californians. Thus preferably directly to the DVD-version of the concert, because optically the guys around frontman Davey Havok are a great experience.

by Oliver Kube (27.12.2007) "I heard a voice" is a live-album of the guys around AFI-frontman, Davey Havok, recorded on 15. September, 2006, in the sold out Long Beach Arena south of Los Angeles. Unfortunately, both the tracklist and the interpretation of the songs don't make this album very essential. Apart form some exceptions, the Alternative Punk-quartet reduced to the performance of hardly varied versions of the songs of their last two studio albums, "Sing the sorrow" and the by that time current "Decemberunderground". Most thrilling are "A single second", featuring Nick 13. The boss of the Psychobilly-Rockers, Tiger Army, also comes from Ukiah, the home of the AFI boys, settled in the Californian wine-growing district, Mendocino County. Fans should rather order the DVD, filmed with 22 (!) cameras on the same night because optically, the performance of the Americans is a true experience. And an – at least short – interview with the band members was included, too.
