Excellent Service

From Punk Rock up to New Wave the album reminds of a battlke between U2 and Box Car Racer. Concretely on the second work the idea of a realm, an empire is described, which any human builds up in himself.

by Matthias Becker (01.10.2007) With "I-Empire", the San Diego based band releases their sophomore studio album. Beside Tom DeLonge, the ex-Blink182-singer, the quartet consists of the guitarist David Kennedy (Hazen Street), drummer Adam Willard (Rocket From The Crypt, The Offspring) and the bass player, Matt Wachter (30 Seconds To Mars). DeLonge calls "I-Empire" a "hybrid of all styles from the Alternative-sector" with which he was raised. From Punk Rock to New Wave, the albums reminds me of U2 vs. Box Car Racer (another band of DeLonge and Kennedy). The band has always seen the two albums, "We don’t need to whisper" and "I-Empire" as two sides of the same sonic coin, in fact, both records were supposed to make up a doible concept album. So, more great compositions are guaranteed, like e.g. in the song "Sirens", accosring to DeLonge no song about emergency vehicles but about the sirens in Greek mythology who allured the seamen with their beguiling choirs. Lively lyrics included.
