Avatarium, Sweden's doom favourites, are back with their third studio album โHurricanes and Halosโ. The band once again rely on beauty and gloom, hard guitars and fragile sounds, unique female vocals and the mystical vintage blues sound from the sixties, without ever slipping into old-fashioned realms or moving away from the core doom metal feel. Six of the eight catchy tracks were written by Candlemass bandleader Leif Edling, while guitarist Marcus Jidell and vocal sorceress Jennie-Ann Smith were also involved in the songwriting this time, making โHurricanes and Halosโ a great successor to โThe Girl with the Raven Maskโ.
