by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (24.07.2009) Joey DeMaio's foster children leave their home, finally: HolyHell had a lot of time to develop as a live act and to hone their songwriting and performance skills in the studio, guarded by the alert ears of their mentor and producer. Exceptional songstress Maria Breon is backed by an im pressive ensemble including ex-Manowar skinsman Rhino and shreddin' Joe Stump (The Reign Of Terror - one of the fastest neo-classic axe men ever). Of course, you have similarities to Dutch Gothic Metal, Nightwish, and Edenbridge, but those are curbed by the powerful True Metal frame and the dramatic set à la musical, keyboardist Francisco Palomo and his orchestrations having a key (sic!) role within all that. "Wings of light" is a perfect, exhilarating opening track, "Prophecy" surprises you with weird echo effects, and "Revelations" has a lot of commercial potential. Apart from the cover version of "Phantom of the opera", all tracks from the debut EP have been rerecorded.
