The question is: how should one describe the Horrorpops? A band that takes the best of many genres and mixes it up in a cool way - but there are more bands like that... Still the Horrorpops are different! And that dissimilarityis not only coming from front-lady Patricia - it's the whole band. The six-piece outfit offers Psychobilly, New Wave, Surf Guitar and slight Punk Rock elements all in one brew. You not only find Tiger Army, Cramps and Siouxsie and the Banshees in the sound of the Horrorpops. Also Rev. Horten Heat and Brian Setzer (or: Stray Cats) are among their influences. And singer Patricia easily switches between vamp and little innocent Punk girlie. The latter comparison arises from the vocals e.g. in "Cool flat top", the first from a hammer like "Psychobitches outta hell"! How must this lady be on stage with her big Upright Bass around her neck? The album title "Hell yeah!" couldn't be better. On this album there are so many things happening that it takes some time until you get it out of the player again - provided that you like or at least know one or some of the bands mentioned above. If yes, this album guarantees fun and entertainment for months! Or how did Patricia herself put it? "I think anybody who likes music will find something he likes in Horrorpops." Right! (Jürgen Tschamler - 04/01)
