by Patrick Schmidt (04/99) Just like their label colleagues In Flames Children Of Bodom rely on old ì recipes. It would have been a waste of resources if they had done other wise. With "Something wild" they advanced to the newcomer of the last year. But their one-of-kind mix of death/black metal and technical filigre does make them really special. Children Of Bodom are some of the best musicians in the ì Nordic scene since their compositions are packed with musical intelligence ì and from time to time rather remind you of prog heads like Dream Theater or ì Yes than of death/black metal. Despite all complexity songs like the opener ì "Warheart" are played straight to the point and spread a shitload of energy ì and aggression. Sensationally good! (Patrick Schmidt) ì
