by Markus Wosgien (22.10.2008) The Finnish Godsplague have released their third album: "H8", and the Finnish media have already garnered it with much acclaim. Guitar wielder Euge Valovirta is considered one of the current top Finnish guitar players - so far, he has played with Leningrad Cowboys, Waltari and Lullacry. The first two releases, "Evilution (2004) and "Triumph" (2006), just attracted some considerable interest in Finnland - but now, the focus is set on the international audience. Godsplague are rooted in Rock and Grunge, sometimes they are compared to Alice In Chains and the Spiritual Beggars. But the sound of Godsplague is very rough and heavy, complex and sophisticated. The eleven tracks are all very different from each other and each of them could be compared to another style and/or influence. Highlights: the fast "All you are", the catchy rocker "Into oblivion" and the hefty opening song "Zero mission". Singer Nico Hartonen stands out due to his remarkably versatile and flexible voice.
