by Jürgen Tschamler (29.03.2010) Tarot are often called the founding fathers of the Finnish Metal scene, but on the other hand fans, especially the younger Nightwish followers, consider Tarot a project of Marco Hietala. Be that as it may, one thing's for sure: Marco himself has never regarded Tarot as a side project, but has continued to release good albums with the band. And that also applies to "Gravity of light", the latest one by the Fins. The album sounds more complex than the brilliant last one, "Crows fly back", which is a hell of a Metal output. As a whole, "Gravity of light" is a bit more musical, melodious, and versatile. Be it a fast Metal anthem such as "Pilot of all dreams", or a subtly complex "Calling down the rain" - the songs feature great melodies and impress with an overwhelming clout due to the juicy production. Marco's voice leaves a distinctive mark on the unique songs - he really makes an effort to set himself apart from the Nightwish sound, thus stressing once again that the two bands are two different entities, not to be put in one basket.
