by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (29.04.2009) A dream has come true for these boys - them being all huge Edge of Sanity fans: their Swedish idol Dan Swanö has mastered their fifth album. Hm, maybe the intro / main motif reminding me a bit of Swanö's progressive Nightingale visions, is coming from the master himself after all? Who knows... Lead guitarist Nils Förster has really settled in on stage - and finally has left his mark on a hole album: "Hours of infinity" brims with awesome tempo changes and various versatile soli. "They won’t be done" starts with a sacral choir part - also unusual for these gentlemen. Lay Down Rotten have this special position between traditional and modern stuff which prevents them from releasing a genuine true German/Swedish old school album, as their mates from Soul Demise did. But if you haven't ignored all releases after 1990, you're likely to find some faves among the nine killer songs, and you'll be wanting to find out on which of them Swanö's guest vocals can be found...
