Excellent Service

"GlaubeLiebeTod" features a smooth rock sound. Oomph! was winner of the Bundesvision Song Context with "Träumst du?", but scandalized lyrically with their opener "Gott ist ein Popstar" and was thus excluded from the Echo awards.

by Sonja Angerer (10.04.2006) The opener, “Gott ist ein Popstar“, also the first single release seems to lead the listener on the wrong path. The new Oomph!-Album is far less about irony and social criticism but rather about all the things the album title proposes: Glaube (belief; “Land in Sicht“, “Ich will deine Seele“), Liebe (love; “Träumst du“) and a lot of Tod (death; “Tanz in den Tod“, “Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod“). That the Morricone-interpretation (Once upon a time in the West) will become a hit alone for the line of the classic western soundtrack can be assumed. While “Gott ist ein Popstar“ has clear references to the trio's EBM-past, the rest of the ten tracks shift between the poles Industrial, Metal and Gothic - the latter leading to such beautiful songs, such as “Eine Frau spricht im Schlaf“, a ballad with Medieval references. A hot candidate for a classic should also be the Gollum-song, called “Mein Schatz“, a truly powerful piece of music. A definite chart tip!
