The renunciation of rapping and Nu Metal sound aesthetics did not diminish the success of Papa Roach, quite the contrary: „Getting Away with Murder“ is a long runner especially in Canada and the United States, also thanks to film and game soundtracks.

by Marcel Anders (July 2004) Their last album, "Lovehatetragedy" was a single catastrophe: only two years after their mega-selling "Infest", the band from Sacramento presented itself in such a desolate state, burned out and empty, obviously only with the attempt to repeat the success of the predecessor. A plan that had to fail - and did. But now, the Californians return completely purified. Their songs still deal with collective pain of souls, with isolation frustration and emotional deficits, but the music clearly changed. Beginning with the voice of frontman, Jacoby Shaddix, who suddenly sings instead of screaming, via the songs in catchy 3-minute formats to the unbelievably anthemnic, almost pop-like like songs. Is this a commercial concession? It rather seems as if Papa Roach have matured. As if they had time to develop and finally loose themselves from "Infest". A step that could ensure their future, especially because "Blanket Of Fear" and the title track are among the best PR-songs ever!
