by Jürgen Tschamler (null) There are two records in kick ass rock that you have to have heard this year: Doomfoxx' self-titled debut and Nashville Pussy's fourth album. The mixed double from Atlanta has long established and is live the absolute killer! Also on their albums, this band manages to bring across their live-power. The Redneck sound with AC/DC elements is dominated by Blaine Cartwrights unmistakable fuck you-vocals! In terms of riffs, his wife Ruyter Suys does everything right, too, resulting in the fattest power-killers, like "Come on, come on" with an edgy earwig-chorus, the uptempo killer, "Going down swinging" (greatly mass compatible without being mainstream) or the snottty gutter track, "Good night for a heartattack". Nashville Pussy are unique with their sound and put the complete Scandinavian wannabee Rock'n'Rollers into the second row. A smasher, like "Hell ain't what it used to be" is self-evident. Tina Turner should be seeking the casuality unit if she'd ever get to hear the Nashville Pussy version of her "Nutbush city limits" hit. Yet, there is one little weakness with this album: unfortunately, they don't hit the speed pedal as hard as on the last records. But that's all made up by the great fuck you-attitude that you can hear in every track. (Jürgen Tschamler - October 2005)
