In the 90s, H-Blockx from Münster directly entered the charts with three albums and wrote the music to the Ruhr area cult film „Bang boom bang“. „Get in the ring“ followed in 2002. The title song became the hymn accompanying the marching in of box champion Sven Ottke.

by Matthias Mineur (null) There were times there it seemed as if H-Blockx would change the roots of their debut, that is classic Crossover with angry and heavy lyrics performed in aggressive speech-lyrics, more towards a more melodic way, enriched with Punk and melody. My friends, those days are gone! On "Get In The Ring", Henning Wehlandt & Co. roar as heavy as on "Time To Move". Already the opener, "C'Mon" and "The Power" with some analogies to Snap! (you couldn't actually call this a cover version, for that the differences are too rude), reanimate true Crossover-strengths. The use of numerous Scratch-passes as well as the choice of song titles say that this is another wind blowing: "Berlin - Monsta City" (with German lyrics) or "Witnezz (R U Wit Me???)" show that the suburban Rap-culture of America were the ideals of H-Blockx in the beginning 90s. If that is still modern today and if there are no fans missing the more melodic elements, may be a matter of discussion.
