by Adam Weishaupt (12.08.2009) I guess Augury won't be too successful (commercially, that is) with their new opus "Fragmentary evidence" - but math wizards will appreciate the progressive and technically brilliant sound of the Canadians, and will start extracting all the roots right away... In a nutshell: if you love melodies and AOR, you'll avoid Augury like the plague - this is harmonics, topsy-turvy. Did you dig Pestilence (in their "Spheres" period), Atheist or Cynic in the 90s? Does your mouth water when you hear names like Obscura? Then, this is a must-have for you. Hyper-fast riffs! Many many tempo changes, breaks, blast beats! Even partially jazzy disharmonies! Still, this wild construction is planned and classy, but you have to be patient. You must have resilient nerves to plough through the nine tracks - but compositions such as "Jupiter to ignite" or "Simian cattle" will belong to the classics of this genre one day. Definitely a Must.
