The initial idea behind Flying Colors: versatile musicians and a Pop singer make modern music in an old-fashioned way. The band which finally evolved from this consists of: Mike Portnoy (drums, vocals), Dave LaRue (bass), Neal Morse (keyboards, vocals), Casey McPherson (vocals, guitar), and Steve Morse (guitar). Together, the create a unique xombination of classic virtuosity and contemporary music.
Steve Morse and Dave LaRue (both Dixie Dregs), often described as oft "musicians of musicians", have developed a magical musical chemistry during all those years of their collaboration. Steve Morse has been part of Deep Purple's line-up for 15 years now, and LaRue's current musical adventures include artists such as Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, Steve Vai, and Mike Portnoy.
