by Marcel Anders (04.04.2007) The problem is the same like once in Bush: also Gavin Rossdale & co. sounded more American than many U.S. bands. Which resulted in mockery of the European press - and millions of sold albums in the U.S.. The German Stone The Crow are not this far, yet, but they are much more internationally compatible than their origin supposes. That begins with the mystic cover artwork and reaches via a sound in best Nickelback and 3 Doors Down style and quality to the obvious references to the electronic experiments of Bush and the Prog-Rock of Tool. Still, S.T.C. is no plagiarism: the four are great musicians who do their very own thing over the course of the twelve songs, skilfully vary the pace and the style and never appear foreseeable. Pungent Power Rock stands beside catchy radio sounds, balanced mid-tempo and fine ballads. Yet, always edgy, with experimental sequencer sounds, bold riffs, passionate vocals and little surprises.
