by Matthias Mineur (01/02) That's what every bands dreams of: On huge international demand, Testament recorded the legendary songs of their early days and re-produced the most important of them. They call it "modern interpretations of the classic tracks" and asked three of their legendary band members into the studio: guitarist Alex Skolnick, drummer John Tempesta and the first singer of the Testament-predecessor, The Legacy, a certain Steve Souza. The result is an album that should be of interest for the long-years fan as well as for the newcomer. Because if you've always wanted to know, where the very first important Thrashmetal-aries came from, you¦ll find them on "First Strike Still Deadly". And many of the older fans of Testament will love the songs for their modern and powerful sound still owning the charms of the originals. I take my off my hat for Testament, and all the best for their ill singer, Chuck Billy!
