Until the dream of a Mithotyn reunion is fulfilled, King Of Asgard add a rough'n'raw facet to the epic, smooth Falconer sound, offering a bridge to traditional Viking Metal with Folk melodies and some dashes of Black Metal.

    Fi'mbulvintr

by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (12.07.2010) With Falconer, Stefan Weinerhall follows the path of the last Mithtoyn song "The old Rover". Other projects of these great Swedish Viking Metal pioneers (Indungeon, Choir Of Vengeance) have been much more aggressive musically, not that important and very short-lived. Infernal Vengeance ("Dual mayhem", demo compilation 2005) are something like King Of Asgard in the making re line-up and style, including Karl Beckmann's squealing vocals, the King being the missing link to the Viking roots: suddenly, you'll find rhythm and atmosphere in Black Metal elements intertwined with anthem-like, ultra-melodic lead guitars, and Bathory-esque choirs. "Einherjar" with its folk arrangements maybe also is a tip of the hat to Norway's Storm (an old project of Fenriz, Satyr, and Kari Rueslatten). The production by Andy LaRoque and Drummer Karsten is the link to Mithotyn and Falconer.
