by Jürgen Tschamler (23.04.2008) The Böhsen Onkelz have put the benchmark for heavy Rock / Heavy Metal with German lyrics extremely high. That another German band now combines Kick Ass Rock with German lyrics is relatively new and bears a risk that should not be underestimated. One can soon drift off into a dirty cliché – and once the reputation is ruined then… well in case of Rock Rotten´s 9mm and their album, "Fegefeuer" such doubts are needless, anyway. These guys kick out a merciless mixture of great riffs, heavy vocals, sweat and power that takes your breath away. Speed hitters, like "Sehnsucht Freiheit" and "Falsch und link" are absolutely authentic, and the cult hymn of all hymns, "Assi Rock `n´ Roll", is a reference double bass monster. In their sound, Rock Rotten`s 9mm combine Peter Pan Speedrock, Zeke, Motörhead and Rose Tattoo and despite the German lyrics, they never drift off into embarrassing regions.
