    Once Sealed In Blood

by Eugen Legat (July 2004) In their anthemnic death metal genre with Viking lyrical concepts, the Swedes become more and more the AC/DC kind of band: excellent song writing with only marginal changes from album to album. "The crusher" was a climax of force, "Versus the world" seemed a bit more experimental whereas the new weapon devoted to the three goddesses of fate in the Northern mythology rather flirts with strong heavy metal elements and doom rhythms. The latter influence can be drawn back to the new support of the composer, Olavi Mikkonen: Johan SΓΆderberg obviously likes it slow and powerful, which is proven in "Where death seems to dwell" or "Valkyries ride"; Olavi then came up with "Arson", too. What remained, of course, were the splendid melodies - "Pursuit of Vikings" could also be of the first MCD. And of course, "An ancient sign of coming storm" and the earwig "Once sealed in blood" have to be explicitly mentioned, too. (Eugen Legat - July 2004)
