Excellent Service

On his tenth anniversary as album-producing artist, Tilo Wolf does not at all return to Lacrimosa's minimalistic beginnings. Also the album "Fassade" from 2001 (with a fashion show on its cover) puts the focus on a bombast of real choirs and orchestras.

by Matthias Mader (null) The uncrowned Dark Wave-kings of Germany are back with a new album, and the almost 10-minute "1. Satz" makes clear: With "Fassade", mastermind Tilo Wolff is setting new standards. The use of a choir, different orchestras and plenty of guests of the Berlin and Hamburger State Opera (for e.g. Oboe, Cello and double-bass), this album reaches new depths. The times of cheap Casio-gloom-romantics have fortunately long gone and no other band managed to transport the genre into the new millenium so easily. Advantage for Tilo is the method to collaborate with changing musicians from different areas (ex-Running Wild-Drummer AC is resonsible for the heavy bass-lines). A novelty is the quiet "Senses", not only sung by Tilo's female partner Anne Nurmi in angel-voices but also composed by her - a true highlight of the maybe best German Dark Wave-album of all times!
