by Oliver Kube (10.04.2003) Fans of action cinema will know this band from Little Rock in Arkansas (Bill Clinton's hometown) already from their two prominently placed contributions on the Daredevil soundtrack. On the single from that album, "Bring me to life", singer Amy Lee had a duet with the rapping 12-Stones singer, Paul McCoy. If you because of this song however fear that this is just another Nu-Metal combo, you are fortunately completely wrong. Together with their long time partner, Ben Moody, Lee provides a melange of heavy Gothic-Rock á la Paradise Lost and Type O Negative ("Going under", "Haunted") on the one side and romantic eccentricity in Tori Amos- or Kate Bush-vein ("Taking over me") on the other. The intelligent, often Christian mysticism add a sacral note to the songs resulting in an almost unique, dramatic atmosphere. I would only know Lacuna Coil who in their best moments could compete to that...
