by Patrick Schmidt (null) Within Temptation from Holland have just the same potential of getting stablished internationally like The Gathering. Likewise you'll find some parallels between the bands. The W.T. wonder voice is called Sharon den Adel and makes you shiver as soon as she opens her mouth (...for singing). Sharon is supported by guitarist Robert Westerholt who provides the contrast to her voice with his growling and makes the well-known interplay between male and female vocals possible. Music-wise the band handles it unbelievably funereal and melancholy thanks to the keyboard entries and the heavy guitarriffs. For a newcomer Within Temptation sound extremely homogene. My tip is "Restless", an atmospheric ballad which will make your emotions go nuts. A hot tip for people who dig The Gathering, Theatre Of Tragedy or Orphanage! Gotta get it!
