by Jürgen Tschamler (11.04.2007) The guys were more or less put on ice for some years but now, they return with a new start in the current trio line-up, Lars Chriss (guitar), Sampo Axelsson (bass), and Patrik Johansson (vocals), presenting their fifth album. If you stumble over the name Patrik Johansson, yes, this is the voice of Astral Doors! It is said that Soilwork drummer, Rickard Evensand could be hired as a studio drummer, too - another kick for the line-up. Musically, the guys deliver twelve great tracks that can be filed under pure, melodic Heavy Metal - a mix of Malmsteen, Overdrive, Talisman and Iced Earth - in typically Scandinavian manner, yet without distinctive keyboards. Edgy, but very balanced, the twelve songs rush through the speakers. Driving forward hits, like "Soultaker", "Hatred's my fuel" or the furious "Clones of fate" immediately convince. No bells and whistles, just highly efficient are the songs for which also Glen Dover as well as Mats Leven contributed a solo, too.
