"Electric church" DVD by Jimi Hendrix

"Electric Church" is released as a DVD edition.

For Jimi Hendrix, his show at the second and last ATLANTA INTERNATIONAL POP FESTIVAL on 4 July 1970 was his largest concert in America. It took place on Independence Day and the show had an audience of more than 200.000 people – some even say that there were more than 600.000 people. The band consisting of Jimi, bass player Billy Cox, and drummer Mitch Mitchell was in top form and played many classics ("Purple Haze", "Fire", a cover version of Bob Dylan’s "All Along the Watchtower"), as well as new songs that were originally supposed to be on Jimi's fourth studio album ("Room Full of Mirrors", "Hear My Train A-Comin", "Freedom" and "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)"). At midnight, during the official fireworks, Jimi played his version of "Star-Spangled Banner". The new documentary film "Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church" deals with this concert and provides an highly interesting insight into the festivals of this time. Unlike the US TV version, the DVD and the blu-ray versions include additional bonus material. The viewer has the opportunity to experience the Atlanta Pop festival, which is also known as the last, big American festival nowadays and was called the "Southern Woodstock" back then. The documentary takes the viewer back to the 1970s, to the rural town of Byron in the state of Georgia and he gets to witness Jimi Hendrix's unforgettable performance. In the documentary, the other band members Billy Cox and the now sadly deceased Mitch Mitchell also speak about this time. Furthermore, it features interviews with Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Rich Robinson, Kirk Hammett, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, and Alex Cooley.
