by Markus Wosgien (02/03) The pre-released single, "Durch Nacht und Flut" let me expect this album in anticipation - but this album outlives all my expectations. Again, Tilo Wolff has created more than a monument of melancholic, romantic music. Again, classically influenced and orchestral, but still very variable and full of facets. "Durch Nacht und Flut" is the catchiest and most anthemnic song. The album begins very daring with the sacral "Kyrie", the overture of the album divided into three chapters with two songs each. On "Echoes", Lacrimosa reveal the most different feelings, often very calm and sensitive - but their effect is intense. The compositions are a masterpiece that underpins the exceptional status of this great band. Lacrimosa are something special, beside "Fassade", "Echoes" appears as their most matured album, very serious and thoughtful. An album that you soon learn to love and worth exploring.
