Article description
Norwegian true black avant-garde band Enslaved have set a release date for their epic new studio album of 13 October. With their 14th LP, the talented songwriters pay even less attention to genre conventions than ever before, offering a unique blend of prog, black metal and intense shoegaze structures split across eight tracks. The album is over an hour long and has the simple, but elegant title βEβ. It was written by the unholy songwriting alliance of guitarist Ivar BjΓΈrnson (music, lyrics) and singer/bassist Grutle Kjellson (lyrics). It is also the first record featuring HΓ₯kon Vinje on the keyboard and clean vocals. Mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, βEβ marks the start of a new era for Enslaved. The hand-painted cover artwork was again designed by Norwegian artist Truls Espedal. To help them on their daring journey to find a new sound, the quartet enlisted the support of several guest musicians: Wardrunaβs Einar Kvitrafn Selvik, flutist Daniel Mage and jazz saxophonist Kjetil MΓΈster.
