by Matthias Mineur (11/01) He ain't the most frightening shock rocker on this planet anymore. Since his shocking video clip of Marylin Manson, Cooper has descended to the oldie-league, his stage appearance with gallows, guillotine and iron virgin are only frightening Disneyworld-visitors. But: musically, Vincent Damon Furnier aka. Alice Cooper is still managing to set new accents and to present himself up to date. His newest album helps forgetting the predecessor, "Brutal planet", and successfully goes for melodies. Already the opener, "Triggerman" reminds me of praised "Poison"-days, combines catchy hooklines with hard guitars and alwass provides the pleasant "Cooper-Pop-appeal". "Dragontown" is the second part of his concept idea dealing with the gloomy underworld with aging rock stars. Is Cooper setting his own biography to music?
