"Don't give me names", the second album by the crossover groovers Guano Apes around Sandra Nasic, became a mainstream success in 2000. Thanks to a cover of Alphaville's song "Big in Japan" that had been taken as single from the album, the band obtained an Echo and the MTV Music Award.

by Fabian Groth (06/02) After the Germans around Sandra Nasic have delivered their share in the observable reanimation of the 80s with their cover version of Alphaville's "Big in Japan", they now present the successor of their highly successful debut, "Proud like a god". The rumours go that the band had had some serious problems prior to the recordings, problems to get into the right mood for writing songs, yet "Don't give me names" gives no hints on any problems! In contrary! In comparison to the debut that was predominantly living by the hit-singles but further than that revealed many fillers, too, is the quality of the new album very much more balanced. Which is not at last the result of the powerful performance of Sandra Nasic. Her vocals have definitely become more variable and more mature. Plus we get a stock of fantastic songs, up-tempo-tracks, like "No Speech" via the heavy-rocking "Innocent greed" to ballads, like "Living in a lie".
