by Andreas Reissnauer (23.04.2009) German quintet Misery Speaks have changed their direction a bit - the last album "Catalogue of carnage" was still influenced by Swedish Melodic Death, but 2009, the band tries something new. The boys are more intp Rock and take a look over the Pond on the US scene. That doesn't make for a disrupted sound, though: "Disciples of doom" sounds remarkably homogenous and cohesive! Misery Speaks deliver a lot of great riffs and brilliant songs on their third album - and because they're so open-minded, they're on their way to carve out a niche, an own identity, for themselves in the genre. The album was recorded in Sweden - Jonas Kjellgren (Sonic Syncidate, Scar Symmetry) has provided the band with an earthy sound and adequate clout. This is a cool Death Rock album - maybe even a bit of an evergreen...
