by Carsten Henkelmann (30.10.2009) The Americans still have a lot of clout, even if they're just a trio now. "Descend into depravity" is the sequel to its predecessor, the great "War of attrition", containing all its trademarks: high speed drumming, groovy mosh parts and intricate guitar work will make for a nice soundtrack in the pit. But in spite of all that technical finesse re songwriting, the tracks are still catchy and not too monotonous. That doesn't mean the band has taken the foot of the accelerator, though - especially drummer Trey Williams is wielding his sticks like there's no tomorrow. During guitar soli, you miss a second axe for a bit more juice sometimes, but that's just a minor flaw. If you happen to like your Death Metal brutal and right between the eyes, this is a must-buy anyway.
