by Lisa Hofer (20.03.2008) Zak Stevens is not only an outstanding singer, he has long become an icon of his own. In his own band, Circle II Circle, Stevens found an ideal medium after the glorious times in Savatage to set forth his creativity and provide the world with bombastic harmonies, rocky arrangements and melodic Metal. On "Delusions of grandeur", no less than Jon Oliva brought in some songwriting ideas, a tactic that had already been successful on the Circle II Circle debut, "Watching in silence". Songs, like the harmony-loaded "Forever" and the goose-flesh ballad, "Echoes", mark the calmer moments of the album while "Every last thing", born to be a hit single, brings in a lot of power and melody after the atmospheric start. Steven's voice in combination with Chris Caffery on guitar make "Delusions of grandeur" an unmistakable Melodic Heavy Rock jewel.
