14.Ballad Of Bloody Run
by Matthias Mader (05.10.2006) Strike Anywhere belong to the (not so very) new generation of American bands providing that the genre Melodic Hardcore redefines itself again and again. The cornerstones of the sound are clearly defined (Bad Religion, NOFX and Rancid), but with every new release Strike Anywhere manage to bring in new nuances into their song writing that make the difference and never let it become boring. For outsiders, these differences may me marginal only, but who would want to shock his fanbase as e.g. Bad Religion did with "Into the unknown"? Strike Anywhere do not! And so, the 14 new songs on "Dead FM" is the best in fast, 3-minute singalong Hardcore with no weaknesses. The highlight, however, comes in the end: the closing "Ballad of bloody run" despite its title is not based on acoustic guitars but features a great Rock'n'Roll-flair (in the likes of Dropkick Murphys).
