North Carolina has sent us a lethal monster named "Day of mourning", the new manifesto of destruction by Despised Icon. The band had already raised considerable interest within the community of extremer sounds when they released their brutal debut album "Consumed by your poison" in 2001. Now they're back for another attack - and set new standards of aggression with their weapons of choice: high speed guitar barrage, head-splitting drum work, well-placed breaks ( you can't hold your breath all the time, can you?) and a killer sound make for some nice refreshing rounds in your inner mosh pit. "Day of mourning" doesn't lack versatility, though: concentrating on clout, the CD still offers - mighty fast ones, mind you - hints of melodies... Wonderful.
