Fine: with the epic "Der letzte Tag", the second album of the Lichtenstein quintet sees a perfect beginning: Sabine Duenser's variable voice lifts over fat guitar walls and some catchy, opulent melody lines with cello and organ. In "Lost Souls" you can hear clear influences of the late 80s melodic metal in the guitars of Pete Streit and Jürgen Broger, the vocals are almost pushed into the background. On the other side, the electronic-epic "Ballade", a Duenser-composition is completely carried by the voice. Which is good, because the lyrics require full attention: its one of those Trakl-poems that Elis, like on the last album, " God's Silence, Devil's Temptation" breathes new life into. Beautiful: "Perfekt Love" which in times Reminds me of an art song, yet with some heavy guitars to it. With the album recorded in Alex Krull's (Atrocity) Mastersound-Studio Elis again prove how exceptional they are and that they will make it to the very top, soon! (Sonja Angerer - September 2004)
