by Oliver Kube (23.04.2009) Right from the start, Static-X want to demonstrate that album number six marks a trip back to their roots, to the sound and the attitude of their unsurpassed debut "Wisconsin death trip". "Lunatic" (on the lead guitar: Megadeth master mind Dave Mustaine!) is tough as nails, ok, but altogether, the quartet is much more relaxed than on the last release which was immensely intense and kind of exhausting. The next one: "Hypure", featuring some interesting electro parts and a distinctly unwound fronter Wayne Static, followed by "Tera-fied" - Mr. Static's source of inspiration here: his new wife porn star Tera Wray - with its pulsating machine groove (that should be a stunner when performed live). Other highlights: the crisp single "Stingwray" (Mrs. Static being also the muse for this one), the semi-ballad "Grind 2 halt", and "Isolaytore" with its staccato Rock'n'Roll rhythm, spiced up with a wild solo by axe man Koichi Fukuda.
