by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (04.03.2008) After the legendary, highly controversial Brujeria, Asesino is the next Spanish speaking hell troop from Dino-Park ("Padre pedofilio"). Even in Grind-attacks and noisy guitar actions, the ex-Fear Factory-guitarist, Dino Cazares, doesn't stick to his old, musical homeland. Instead, the triggered drums remind me of the sterile, later Fear Factory productions. Futuristic sound cascades? No way. Keyboards don't count in this minimalist trio. Melodies do not, either, by the way, most of the time. Yet if they do, they do tremendously: in "Maldito", they appear as refreshing as the sudden harmonies of Vital Remains. An oasis for the thirsty desert fox. Across the Atlantic, "Cristo satanico" – a disparagement of the Savior, not the veiling artist, Christo! – was released in 2006 already. The European version features the 15 original songs plus the video for "Regresando odio". An ode to the power of pushing riffs and slams.
