11.You Were The Cancer
by Florian Drees (03.02.2009) Finally, some news from the Post Hardcore gods Thursday! The Jersey six present us with 11 songs: their seventh output (already!) is titled "Common existence" - and once again, this is wonderfully sentimental stuff full of surprising and experimental sounds. Nobody can transport these deep, whiny, emotional and expressive lyrics like Geoff Rickly. He proves this very impressively with "Time’s arrow" - some may recognise this one from the last album "Kill the house lights", being a bit different from this version. "Circuites of fever", "Last call", "You were the cancer" and "Unintended long term effects" are just some of the tracks you’ll find on this sick and murderous album. Each song is unique, each one will alter your perspective. By any means, "Common existence" is a Must Have of 2009 - even if it is rather early to say so!
