by Olaf Plotke (01/02) Falconer is the new band of ex-Mithotyn, Stefan Weinerhall, "Chapter from a vale forlorn" is their second album. And it's a hitter! Melodic Power Metal of the best kind with a fantastic singer, super songs, a top production and ingenious musicians. Live performing with guest musicians, Falconer are a trio in the studio. Musically, they are somewhere between Stratovarius and King Diamond. Powerful electric guitars and a great rock-singer provide a fat sound. In other bands of this genre, most of the quality is drowned in the shouter's trials and endless guitar solos. Falconer are refreshingly different. Impressively documented with the bonus track, "Per Turssons DΓΆttrar I VΓΆnge". A Celtic folk song with a fantastic instrumentation and with its great melody one of the absolute highlights of the album, perfectly rounding off "Chapter from a vale forlorn".
