by Matthias Mader (11.04.2007) The Sex Pistols were one of the most influential Rock bands ever. No question that this circumstance has to be paid attention to in our digital times, too. With the exception of the official releases, "Never mind the bollocks" and "The great rock'n'roll swindle", there has been a number of useless, semi-official and completely unauthorised releases. "Chaos! Secret history - The Dave Goodman story" is neither completely unofficial nor totally useless. On the contrary: it offers an interesting point of view on the career of the Sex Pistols that slightly differs from the usual historical view, namely from the view of their producer, Dave Goodman, who unfortunately died much too early in 2005. The ex-Sex Pistols-manager, Malcolm McLaren, the ex-Pistol, Glen Matlock as well as radio legend, Tony Wilson and other illustrious contemporary witnesses portrait the work of the completely underestimated sound wizard as well as the musical works of the Sex Pistols and their socio-cultural meaning. Very informative 100 minutes in English (with German subtitles).
