by Matthias Mader (18.01.2008) The third Cataract album for Metal Blade does without an extra title – obviously, the guys have fully concentrated on the song writing. In direct comparison to the predecessor, they progressed in every sense. The Slayer-inspired riffs in songs, like "Deathwish" and "Blackest hour" work like a Swiss clock, the countless breaks and pace changes are skilfully used and at no time destroy the flow of the first class song material. Also, Cataract as one of the few current bands understood that mid-tempo bangers develop much more brutality than every high speed attack. Best example for that theory is the highly complex "The separation of life and time". A classification, like Metalcore, has long become too narrow for Cataract because they have long found their own niche. Unfortunately, I can't promise a price for the answer on the question who put the incredible sound to this album because who else could it be than again Tue Madsen in his Antfarm Studios.
