by Jürgen Tschamler (02.10.2008) Swedish Melodic-/Power Doom outfit Memory Garden reports back with its fourth album. Long-time fans, though, do know that Doom is just one ingredient of their intricate material, and that there are a lot of progressive and melodic elements in their sound. From time to time, they step on it considerably (check out "The bitter end"), thatβs natural for them, as well as their monolithic sound. "Another night" starts off like a ripe and hefty piece of Power Metal, then passes into slow-mo riffs and tops it off with a nice intricate song structure. Stefan Berglundβs voice is better than ever, he even outdoes his own singing on the classic "Verdict of posterity" -and thatβs saying something... "Carnage carnival" is a convincing comeback after six years of absence. Long-time aficionados should grab a copy anyway, and the interested layperson may rest assured that just a few Doom bands are able to produce such ear candy.
