Cracking second album of Dimmu Borgir´s Shagrath sidekick Chrome Division. Raw, dirty, solid, plain, that's how barefaced Rock with killer grooves should sound. Motörhead, early Hellacopters and Peter Pan Speedrock are the definitive influence!

by Jürgen Tschamler (21.07.2008) With "Booze, broads and beelzebub", Shagrath`s (Dimmu Borgir) side project Chrome Division prove again that they’ve got a knack for terrific kick ass music. The guys call their style Doomsday Rock `n` Roll - but it is far from being doomy... As done on the debut, "Doomsday Rock `n` Roll" has its role models set: Motörhead, early Hellacopters, and Peter Pan Speedrock. Here and there, we have a dash of Spiritual Beggars - no surprise, because these gentlemen, too, like their music faster. The Chrome Division sound is really spiced up by being a bit heavy on the bass - the five-piece is rocking, rolling, and grooving and delivers one brilliant piece of rock’n’roll after the other. Cover versions, like the old ZZ Top staple "Sharp dressed man" just top that off. The full throttle affairs "Doomsday rider", "The boys from the east" or "Raven black cadillac"give your stomach a really thorough massage - that’s how true dirty rock is supposed to sound: raw, grimy, simple.
