by Maria Baizley (14.04.2008) If you would look up the term "blasphemy set to music" in the lexicon you should probably get a picture of Helmuth and his Belphegorโ€“troop. "Bondage Goat Zombie", the subtle titled seventh album of the Austrian Extreme Metallers again deals with the abysses of life always praised by Belphegor: sex (favourably sado-masochism), blood, the devil (hear: "We shred for Sathan") and goats in all versions. The good, old Marquis de Sade comes in here ad there, especially remarkable on the epic "Der Rutenmarsch", including a sample of a true flagellation. On the musical side, you get a breathtakingly precise blast of speed-riffing, heavy drums and Helmuthโ€™s hell-like growls. Together with the very catchy hymns, like the banging compatible, "Sexdictator Lucifer", Belphegorโ€™s technically extremely high level result in a thrilling, deep dark Death / Black Metal โ€“ brew that no other band in Europe is capable of.
