by Markus Eck (23.12.2005) Sonic loans from the Black and Viking metal aren't missing on this well-done debut album as well as all sorts of traditions and sagas from the old, Northern mythology, all put down in the lyrics of these playful guys. The quintet formed in 2003 plays highly melodic and beautiful anthemnic epic Pagan Metal with a broad range of moods and fierce, male vocal lines - in parts they hiss really poisonous. The tracks show Wolfchant as creative composers who on this relevant level perform in a mature way - they are very good in transforming their ideas into music. The songs feature plenty of cross references to the early highlights of many Northern bands. Happy Pagan-hymns with predominantly energetic song structures, performed with an immense love and run by an amazing freshness and refreshingly powerful impulses. That way, the five Bavarians fortunately prove to be original enough to be guaranteeing great listening pleasure with their heroic songs.
