Two and a half years after "Take Off Your Pants And Jackets" the trio (namely Tom DeLonge (guitar), Mark Hoppus (bass) and Travis Barker (drums)) returns for the next big thing. Their nameless fifth album is another big manifest in terms of wild, loud punk rock - lively, happy and cheerful. A hedonistic tribute to life that can be wonderful outside of California, too - provided that you have enough beer, some nice girls around you, a fine skateboard and of course the right streetwear which is offered by their own fashion labels "Atticus" and "Famous Stars And Stripes", too. And those designs are at least as cool and fresh as the 14 songs on their new album. They may sound (like the current single "I Miss You") a bit calmer, more matured, more lyrical but still way over the top. "Blink 182" is three quarters of an hour exuberant punk rock entertainment of the special kind. Especially witty: the guest appearance of Cure-legend Robert Smith on "All Of This". If he knows what he's doing there? (Marcel Anders - 04/01)
