by Ralf Koch (11.07.2006) There has been a lot of talk prior to this album - of pop, electronica, and other experiments - for all fans of the rocky Muse in almost frightening way. So, this much at this point: yes, there are many new, club-compatible sounds on this fourth album of the band that make this album surely the biggest progression to the previous one, ever. Still, everything sounds typically Muse - and that is really fascinating to observe. Beats in the opener, "Take a bow“, pop in "Starlight“ and dance in "Supermassive black hole“ - extremes that may become a challenge but that surely would be much harder to swallow if they weren't already accompanied by the Muse-typical rock-elements, too. But at the latest with track no. 6, "Invincible“, it becomes impossible to sit still when this song after its calm beginning suddenly becomes a reference song of orgiastic Muse art. Added by "Assassin“, with System Of A Down-kind of heavy-guitars, or the killer song, "City of delusion“, be sure: this is another Muse milestone that you should have heard!
